Mackmyra Brukswhisky. That’s one I’ve never heard of in my life. It turns out, it’s because it’s a Swedish Whisky. Master of Malt is really keeping this one interesting! History. Named after the village it’s in, Mackmyra it was launched by a group of friends in 1999. They were in town for a ski trip, forgot to bring single malt whisky, and things basically just spiraled out of control from there.

Mackmyra Brukswhisky has a balanced character with fruits and butterscotch. The nose is clean and fresh, with light, spicy, notes of Swedish peat and juniper. Clear fruitiness with butterscotch, citrus and pear. Prominent notes are liquorice and mint. It is the brainchild of eight friends who, tucked away in a mountain lodge in the spring of 1998, wondered why there was no Swedish whisky in the vast ocean of whisky in the world. Mackmyra was born a year later in 1999 and the first drops of their Swedish whisky were distilled on 18 December 1999.

In 1998, 8 friends went on a skiing trip. Each of them took a bottle of malt Whisky for the host.
